Botrytis

Botrytis cinerea is the casual pathogen for bud rot or grey mold. Botrytis reproduces best in cool wet conditions, like most fungi and is fairly common in greenhouse production but can also be seen in the field. The weather of the past week has been perfect for infection of this disease. Not only do growers need to concern themselves with in field infections, but rapid and complete drying of the flowers immediately after harvest is critical as the fungus can quickly progress.
