Moisture Sampling

Calculating DM content

For a few reasons you may want to calculate the moisture content of your crop around and post-harvest.  Of course, there is little data on this for hemp – some on marijuana (but that’s for smoking from what I see).  Below are for forages but should be suitable, especially how to “do the math” for the calculations on dry matter percent.  One thing you will need, for accuracy, is a scale that is quite precise (at least 0.1g) to do the calculations on what would be a small sample in comparison of the crop.

Please take a representative sample.  A relatively small sample, enough to fit in a microwave or oven, is a TINY sample so be sure that the portion of leaves, flowers and stem are representative of the whole crop.
